James Cameron

Non-executive Chairman

James is non-executive chairman of GSCM’s Board. He is also a former chairman and co-founder of Climate Change Capital, is a lawyer by training and has spent much of his legal career working on climate change matters, including negotiating the UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol as an adviser to the Alliance of Small Island States. He has held academic appointments at Cambridge, London and Sydney and is currently affiliated with the Yale Centre for Environmental Law and Policy.

Rupesh Madlani*

Board Member

Rupesh is co-founder and a member of GSCM’s Board. Rupesh spent a decade at Lehman Brothers and Barclays in equity research in sustainability and clean technology, ranking first in the Institutional Investor survey. Prior to this, Rupesh worked at PwC in the corporate finance practice. Rupesh is a chartered accountant and Freeman of the City of London. Rupesh is an expert reviewer in various publications with the World Economic Forum, the OECD, Prince of Wales Sustainability unit and the United Nations relating to sustainable development.

Stephen Pack*

Chairman, Audit & Remuneration Committee

Steve is co-founder, chairs GSCM’s Audit & Remuneration Committee, a member of the Investment & Risk Committee and is a Board member. Steve is former Head of Risk and Quality for PwC UK and Global Consulting Risk and Quality partner. At PwC, assignments included a senior audit partner with clients in many sectors, a consulting partner handling large change management contracts, and operations and finance director of the newly created outsourcing business.

Sam Ruiz

Non-Executive Director, Audit & Remuneration Committee

Sam is a co-founder, non-executive Board Director, and a member of GSCM’s Audit & Remuneration Committee. Sam is the CEO of the Institutional Services division at Tullett Prebon Ltd, and a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee.
Following a 20 year career in European Equities, managing risk at Lehman Brothers, Sam became a Senior Managing Director at Nomura International plc, heading up the Equities division.

Dr. James Tansey*

Chief Investment Officer, Board and Investment & Risk Committee

 

James is Chief Investment Officer, member of the Board and the Investment & Risk Committee. James received his PhD in Environmental Sciences and has worked for the last 20 years as a faculty member in the business schools at the University's of Oxford and British Columbia. James is the founder of Offsetters and NatureBank Asset Management. He is founder of the Pacific Impact Investor Network and has helped mentor and accelerate over 30 Canadian impact companies in the last decade. He has served as an advisor the Federal and Provincial Government on social innovation and impact investing and was awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee Award for service to the environment in 2014.

Christopher Richards

Chairman, Investment & Risk Committee

Chris chairs GSCM’s Investment & Risk Committee. Chris has worked in international agriculture for more than 30 years.  He is currently Chairman of Oxitec Limited, a bio-technology company and of Plant Health Care plc, a leading provider of naturally derived plant stimulants and an advisor to a number of farming companies.  He was previously CEO of Arysta LifeScience Corporation.  He holds a D Phil in Animal Ecology.

Charlotte Grezo*

Director, Investment & Risk Committee

Charlotte is a member of GSCM’s Investment & Risk Committee and heads our Sustainability work. Prior to this, Charlotte was Group Sustainability Strategy Director at Centrica. Throughout her career, her focus has been on sustainability strategy, policies and performance. She previously held senior management positions and had Group-wide responsibility for Sustainability at Vodafone and Lehman Brothers and led on environmental issues Group wide for BP. Charlotte is on the Board of Fauna and Flora International and Botanic Gardens Conservation International and a member of the BBC Sustainability Advisory Group.

Arindam Basu

Analyst

Arindam is an analyst of GSCM’s investment team. He is a seasoned financial analyst with over 8 years of experience in equity research at Lehman Brothers and Barclays. He was part of the Sustainability and Clean Technology team (ranked No.1 globally in the institutional investor survey) as well as the Telecom Services team. Having worked in three key financial hubs such as New York, London, and Mumbai, he has a deep understanding of global markets.

Yang Zhou

Analyst

Yang is an analyst of GSCM’s investment team. He has over 12 years of professional experience in various advisory and asset management roles, including private equity fund management, investment banking, financial advisory, business compliance, and legal service. Yang’s current focused area includes sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, renewable energy, urban development and sustainability, and other social finance and impact investing themes. Yang was a licensed lawyer and a CPA with an interdisciplinary academic background. He holds an MBA, a Master of Law, and a Bachelor of Engineering.

Samuel Ndonga

Fund Manager

Samuel is GSCM’s Fund Manager based in Nairobi, Kenya. Samuel has over a decade of experience in business growth advisory and sustainable investment with a focus on agribusiness, financial inclusion and renewable energy. He has  actively been involved in investing in SMEs and mid-sized corporates including working at Deutsche Bank as an Investment Manager with the Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF) covering the East and Southern Africa region. Samuel has a BSc. Statistics from the University of Nairobi, PGC in Global Business Strategy from IESE Business School and MBA from Strathmore Business School.

Sonja Riedke

Fund Manager 

Sonja is GSCM’s Fund Manager based in Nairobi, Kenya. Sonja brings with her professional experience in the sustainable investment space and strong knowledge on developing countries having lived in Africa and the Middle East for over 15 years. She previously worked at Deutsche Bank as an Investment Manager for the Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF) covering the East and Southern Africa region. Prior to this, she worked for the regional GIZ project based out of Ghana focusing on implementing Farmer Business Schools across the cocoa sector in West Africa. Sonja has a BSc. in Business from ESB Reutlingen/DCU Dublin and a MSc. in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Bonn.
